Mr. McGuire assisting BCHS student, Ashton Garner during a Stoichiometry Lab. Students had to calculate the theoretical mass yield and experimentally determine the actual mass of NaCl produced.

In order to complete the pathway for healthcare science, these BCHS students completed three days of clinical hours at Twin Oaks Convalescent Center. Clinical hours consisted of the students helping the residents with feeding, bathing, and social activities. Completing the clinical hours makes these students eligible to take the CNA certification exam.

December 1st, four BCHS FFA students competed in the FFA South Region Welding Competition, hosted by Ware County High. Dalton Cody, was the Oxy/Acetylene Cutting Winner. Jase Tomberlin, was the Oxy/Acetylene Brazing Winner. Area 6 "Top Gun" Winner was Lane Kinlaw. The "TOP GUN" winner will receive an Oxy/Acetylene Torch Handle and Cutting Outfit. All four students who competed will receive Welding Prize packages (helmet, gloves, oxy/acetylene cutting glasses)- all prizes courtesy of Airgas in Waycross. Congratulations to all‼️

Mrs. Garrett's BCMS class did their CBI (community based instruction) at Pineland and FNB south. The staff was fantastic with the students. In class they have been discussing withdrawals and deposits, banking staff explained how that worked with them, they got to see how coins are sorted, how the tube system works, how an ATM works and so much more. There are lots that happen “behind the scenes” at the banks and the kids got to ask any questions they had. Mrs. Garrett said that it was a wonderful experience for all! Thank you to our local banks for hosting our students‼️

All BCSD students will release early on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Please view the attached image for release times. Students will then begin Christmas Break, and will return on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

On December 1, to honor and remember the upcoming anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Ms. Bennett's, BCMS social studies classes, took time to immerse themselves in the history of December 7, 1941. Students spent time reflecting upon the many stories of heroism that came out of our national tragedy, including those of Cook Third Class Doris "Dorie" Miller, the first African American to be awarded the Navy Cross, and Petty Officer Second Class Joe George, who was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for Valor in saving six survivors from the USS Arizona.

BCHS Class of 1982 celebrated their 40 year class reunion and in honor of special education made a $500 contribution to student services.
