BCSD Attendance Support Teams strive daily to ensure students are present. Each team member assists in monitoring and implementing attendance policies. While reviewing their absentee list each day, they contact student
s parents/guardians by phone once they have reached three absences. This is to ensure parents are aware and to inform them of state requirements.
Support Team Members schedule a meeting with parents/guardians once a student has reached their 10th absence. This meeting is in the best interest of the student. Parents/Guardians and Support Team Members collaboratively work to resolve concerns and together prepare a plan to get back on track.

A Title I Distinguished School in Georgia is one of the highest-performing Title I schools in the state, ranking among the top 5% based on student performance in English Language Arts and math from the most recent statewide assessments. These schools are recognized for exceptional absolute performance, not just improvement, and are identified by the Georgia Department of Education.

We’re thrilled to share some great news—our district has seen a 74% improvement in attendance compared to this time last year! This incredible progress shows what can happen when schools, families, and our community work together to support student success.

BCHS students Nick Lee and Rashaun Ellis, along with BCHS Principal Mr. Charlie Powell and Superintendent Traci Martin, recently attended the Heart of South Georgia State College event held in Waycross.
The event featured Dr. Rick Rigsby, a Wall Street Journal best-selling author and former award-winning journalist. Dr. Rigsby became an internet sensation when his powerful speech on hope was viewed by over 130 million people worldwide. His message continues to inspire audiences across the globe.
